In the blink of an eye...

If you were granted one wish exclusively for your personal use, what would that wish be? How would you satisfy your most self-indulgent craving?

When I was younger, my favorite shows (well, some of them) were "Bewitched" and "I Dream of Jeannie." I, of course, believed in neither witchcraft or the magic of genies. ;-) It was always such a nice escape though, the thought of being able to do anything you wanted to do, whenever you wanted, and wherever you wanted to do it.

They were lighthearted shows with likable characters. They drew you in with their magical banter. We *all* wanted to be able to do that. How many times did I wish that I could just wiggle my nose, blink my eyes, or bop my head to make the dishes clean or my room all straightened? Heh!

Well, to be perfectly frank, that feeling has never gone away! The only difference is that, as I've grown older, the things that I wish I could do have intensified and broadened.

I want my bills to be paid without a)my paying them, and/or b)taking the time to write out checks. Yep, I am just that lazy! There are times even when I have the bills paid, but I don't send them out right away. Most often, my bills arrive at their destination on time, but there are times when I get a bit nervous (ie., car payment, Discover card payment, etc.). I've even been known to pay a whole extra twelve bucks or so to send the bills out overnight! Thanks to the good ol' increase in postage, I would now have to pay WAY more than that! I'll try to watch myself. ;-)

I absolutely abhor cleaning my house. I will do it, and I maintain some semblence of a tidy home, but there are just things that take me *forever* to get to. For example, dusting is a pain in the hinder! I hate dusting. I live in the desert, so once I dust, it's only moments before the tables and shelves look in need of another treatment. It just doesn't pay! My kitchen table is another example. It tends to be the catch-all for my mail, any papers I bring home from school, and purchases made throughout the day. Yes, I know, it's horrible! Can we say v-a-c-c-u-u-m? Lucky goes berserk when the vaccuum comes out, and he's always around, so... ummm... well... I should vaccuum more often.

Just imagine being able to have all of that done with just a wiggle of my nose or a blink of the eyes or a bop of the head. (I'd wear a ponytail if it helped!) My house would be amazing! With that in mind, I'd also decorate the house with amazing style. The only things I have on my walls are in my kitchen. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I love apples, so that is how my kitchen is decorated. The things on the walls are all gifts from friends and family. The living room and bedrooms, however, leave a lot to be desired. Blank walls are not very cozy!

Oh! Imagine just holding out the palm of my hand and blinking a nice plate of chicken and potatoes. I enjoy cooking, but not for myself alone. I'm losing myself in delightful thought here!

Now, for the nitty gritty. If I had the ability that Jeannie or Samantha had, I would change some things about myself. I know, how horrible is that? I would blink away all cellulite and wrinkles. Gray hairs? Be gone! Adult acne (during, you know... that time!)? Bwah! I think that even my big ol' feet would mysteriously be a nice sized 7 or 8. Oh, and let's talk about the breasts. No, no. Let's not. Suffice it to say that there *would* be changes! Oh, and, Sandy!!! One blink and that leg/underarm/facial/anyotherspot hair? Gone, I say! History. Adios, little amigos!

Oh, yeah. I would be a happy, happy person.

If I had one wish, I would most definitely wish for the ability to do all that--even for just a day or a week. I want to *be* Jeannie (I have long, blonde hair!) or Samantha (my nose would do a *great* job!). I wouldn't use it for any emotional or psychological changes. I wouldn't use it on other people. Truly. It would be purely for selfish and indulgent reasons.
