Bad day.

A very bad day.

It could have been worse, but I’m glad it wasn’t.

As a teacher, and still a fairly new one, I still have these days where I feel like I lose control of the students. Today, they won. I don’t know why, but nothing I did seemed to work. They were off-task, easily distracted, and making me crazy! My normally infallible methods of classroom management were thwarted at every turn. It got to the point where *I* was the one looking at the clock, wondering, ”Is it time to go home yet?”

Kids can smell fear. They can smell defeat. They can sense a teacher’s weakness. I just know it. Those little munchkins were taking each of my blond hairs and turning them to gray with just a look of indignation. With only sixteen days left of the school year, I am now thinking, ”What classroom management strategies can I incorporate quickly and effectively into each day?”

Okay, maybe it wasn’t as bad as all that. Maybe I am suffering from P.M.S. Nah. That’s not it. It was just a day. The kids knew, too, that I was frustrated. I saw the looks of horror on some of their faces as I barked out orders. I am usually a kind and nurturing type of teacher. There were audible gasps from across the room as a foreign being (or bean, as my students write) had slowly begun to take over their teacher’s body.

There are a few moments that I would like to reclaim, though. Moments that I would like to tuck neatly away into the file that's labeled, Maniac Teacher Episodes - Destroy

Some of my students, bless their little souls, did their best to listen and urge their fellow classmates to do the same. But they, too, are only human, and it's not always possible to sway their peers in the “right” direction. But I must say, even some of my angels were being drawn to the dark side today!

The end of the day couldn’t come quickly enough, but it finally did. Praises were heard echoing throughout the halls.

When all is said and done, we did get *some* work done today. However, the students still won.

Dagnabit.

Teachers………166
Students………….2

Like I said, it could be worse!

And just look - Alice has the opposite kind of day. Heheh.

16 more days of school!
