Caution: Television fluff ahead!
I am SO digging this DirectTV thing! Yes, I said 'digging'. Heheh.
In my email a few weeks back I received one of those many special offers for a basically free satellite system. I decided to go for it. My cable goes out too often for reasons that I am unaware, and well, I thought the change would be good.
So I went for it.
I received the whole big box a few days later, but it took me a month to install it. Well, the dish and cable were already here from the prior residents, so all I had to do was connect the cable poking through the wall into the box and telvision. Oh yeah, it was difficult. I had thirty days to activate the service or else I'd be charged over $200. Well, the last day (of course) I got it set up.
I love it! It's great! Why is it great?
Well, for a couple of extra dollars, I not only have my local channels, but I also have the major networks from the east coast. This extra little bonus only costs me a couple of dollars more a month than my cable did. Not bad, eh?
Yesterday I came home from work at about 6:00 P.M. and I sat down to see what was on. I wanted to flip through the many channels on this satellite thing. (There are WAY too many channels. I am going to have to go to the DirectTV office here in town to see if they have a guide that I can look at! Heheh.) Well, at 6:00 P.M. I watched Ally McBeal, which I usually watch at 9:00 P.M. And at 7:00 P.M. I watched Crossing Jordan, which I normally have to wait until 10:00 P.M. to watch! I have the east coast NBC and FOX, and I am waiting to see if I can get the east coast CBS and ABC. If I do, oh boy, watch out! I am going to be able to really schedule out something for Thursday nights, which is the night that I have the most conflicting shows. I will be able to watch one network earlier and catch the other network at the regular time. Normally I only have one or two shows that I enjoy watching every night, but it will be nice to have the choice to watch earlier should I care to go to bed early. Yeah. Right.
Heaven! I'm in Heaven!
Yes, I am a burgeoning t.v. junkie. ;-)
Is Ally McBeal going to be on the last episodes? She was on for a minute last night. That's very strange. I realize that the decision to cancel the show was made after the taping of the last show (at least I think it was), but still. Isn't she the main character? Or has that changed? Yep, it's definitely time for the end.
Let's talk about E.R.
Last week we (the viewers) found out that Dr. Mark Greene had died. We cried. It was heart-wrenching. Yada yada yada. So what do they do? They make this week the week that we say goodbye to Dr. Greene. It is apparently going to show us his last days. Hello! Now tears are going to be yanked from me again! It's just not right. Don't they know that I am a complete emotional sap?
I cry at the Home Depot commercial where the young woman goes to get carpet and tile. She gets it done in time for her parents' visit. Her dad, with toolbox in hand, looks at her as she waits anxiously for his opinion, and says, "Not bad, kid." I get tears in my eyes and my breath catches every time. Good grief! Heheh.
This week's E.R. should be good, though.
Did they really kill off Will on Alias on Sunday??? I mean... they wouldn't kill off Will, right? They just shot him. He's not dead.
Hear that? Denial has arrived. He's a welcomed friend. ;-)
What's up with this Osbournes craze? Oh my gosh. Am I alone in thinking that this is the most ridiculous waste of airtime on television? Puleeeeeeeease! I couldn't bear to watch more than five minutes.
However, it does make me appreciate my own all the more. We only fight like that on occasion.
I went shopping tonight. I have been seeing this little hummingbird flying by my house, so I thought it would be wonderful to have a hummingbird feeder so that I can see more of them. Gosh, I've never seen one up close. They are amazing little animals! Their wings move sooooo quickly.
So, I went to WalMart for a hummingbird feeder. $90 later, I walked out the door. I decided that I just had to have a gas grill, so in my cart it went. I thought about my UNO deck at school - well, 1/3 deck - and I headed for the game aisle. Three decks of cards (different themes - spideyman, harry potter, and mountain dew), a tin of kids' card games (war, old maid, go fish, and one other), pick-up sticks and jumping jacks later, I turned the cart toward the front.
Oh! I thought. I must check out the colored pencils. My students are going through colored pencils like lightning, so I wanted to see how much some new ones would cost. Well, I didn't get any pencils, but I did leave that aisle with three pencil/crayon sharpeners like the ones that I have at my desk. The kids can't leave them alone, so more items in the cart to go into the classroom store.
New hairdo - bigger curling iron. You guessed it. I bought a new curling iron.
More items found their way into my cart. Yikes!
So much for quickly running in to pick up a hummingbird feeder. Heheh.
